Rise - Ink Wash
We are all born with the potential of having wings.
Living is figuring out how to use them.
The transformation from acute illness to a state of recovery is magnificent.
With our shape and capacity radiating in the world.
Opening our wings to capture a glimpse of our future.
Opening our minds to negotiate coming together.
The wind runs wild.
It blows while creating a current of escape.
Site in progress....
It is time to identify creativity as a form of therapy for all individuals. It is a path taken by so many afflicted with overcoming stigma including Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, PTSD, and Mild Cognitive Impairment. Expression through art and writing opens healing paths taken by those who created it and by those who are receiving.
Any creative technique used, demonstrates a talent to explore art in a way that invites others to share and heal disabilities. Often, we are unable to put our emotions into spoken words. Thus, creativity serves as a therapeutic vehicle for wellness.
Sometimes, our thoughts are just as confusing, and any form of art or writing can give our minds an outlet. Creativity is something innate in everyone, whoever you are and wherever you come from!

Facial Recognition-Oil pastel
We all face our feelings now or later.
We do not have to start at the beginning to progress with the emotion most demanding.
Manic-Depression is a conundrum and a struggle.
A fight.
It is a stage in the lives of so many.
Repeatedly it migrates.
For some, it is a spectrum of color and recognition.
Is the middle ground the existence of our true self?
That moment.
Being a few minutes, hours, or days of constantly enduring the pull!
Is it better to be one or the other?
Fearful and even at times tranquil.
I fear the pulling of each bitter side.
Recruiting me without my permission I reside in this frequent landscape.
One end to another.
The wind of life gives us momentum.
Intermission may be brief, but it may provide a fragment of relief!

Shell-Pen
It is common sense.
It is what is inside that counts.
But a shell sure does not hurt.
What is inside?

All Around-Pencil
A hybrid of our deepest personalities that
are accompanied with our deepest emotions.

Halfway-Pencil
Infinity is at the end of the hallway.
With almost all senses dulled, she uses her glow to lighten the corridor.
Feeding curiosity with each step, comes a new day challenged by fear.
The unknown carries a bit of hesitation and guarding.
However, she commands the demise of anticipation.
There are no doors leading to an escape.
Keep walking.
Keep living.

3’s a Charm!-Digital
Three profiles occupy the black space.
Blue, red, and green are all to be seen.
Color fills each profile hoping to take residence in its space.
All to be massaged into an expression for this day.

Oh my!-Digital
Oh, my!
Am I mentally ill?
I better go to the Clubhouse!

I Sight-Digital
My thoughts form a committee to distinguish between past, present, and future.
Residing in the present offers a bundle of opportunity and encouragement!
A glimpse of the future captures what is forthcoming.
The clouds invite the sun to show itself every morning.
They put it to sleep every night.
A constant of time!

Face Line-Pen and acrylic
Observe and engage joy!
Challenged by grief and the gravity of darkness I continue to breath.
I am inspired by the light that surrounds me!
In front of me is the future.
What is behind, is the past!
